The new vintage of Snowvale has arrived, and to celebrate we have to go out at $9.99 per bottle, right?
Snowvale at $9.99 represents some pretty unreal value. As we've told you before, there are even stores in NC selling this wine for $31! (Picture below)
In an ocean full of uninspiring Cabernet at this price point, Snowvale just works. Tuesday night Tacos? Boom. Wednesday night burgers. Done. Saturday night Netflix. But of course. (anyone watching anything that is must see?)
So let's get to it! Get while the gettin' is good!
Happy Tuesday!

I've gotten no less than 322,567 e-mails since the middle of June asking if Larme will be on sale one last time during summer for $9.99. I replied back to 322,566 mentioning it probably will during our Labor Day sale and the general consensus was "we can't wait that long summer will be over..." 😂
I get it. It's our best selling rosé of all time...the wine is delicious...and at the sale price of $9.99 it is just a silly value.
Well, we are in the business of pretty much doing whatever you guys want, so here we go!
$9.99 per bottle. 5 days only. You can grab yourself a small stockpile to make it until these crazy temps go away and for your one last jaunt to the beach.
Why is the wine so special?
Well, if you stick around the wine business long enough, you’ll have seen it all. Where once wine coolers were cooler than Liebfraumilch, now hard seltzer is hot (served cold). White Zin was once de rigeur, though it was never French; it was from the good ol’ US of A. But then that became too sweet and the category died. Or seemed to. Because then rosé rose up like a zombie eager for fresh meat, though the current iteration of the pink stuff is more often French than not. Provence is the epicenter of it and the French have figured out how we like it: dry, pale pink, light and refreshing.
Larme has all this and more in spades.
So lets get to it! Happy Wednesday!

How does a wine become our best selling Champagne over the last two years and we've never even sent out a newsletter about it?
1) It's delicious (a blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier)
2) It's the lowest price in the US by over $10 per bottle or 30%
4) It's impossible to keep in stock
How does this wine even exist?
Jean-Nöel Haton makes numerous Champagnes; the Haton house is in the top ten of Champagne producers. But you wouldn’t know about it unless you lived in Champagne or were somehow deeply ensconced in the wine biz. This family has been making Champagne since 1928 and you should probably get in on it before the centennial in a few years when things are bound to get noisier and pricier.
Think Champagne is only for celebrations? Think again 😁 I know what I'm drinking tonight!

Here's the deal. We tasted this wine for the first time back in February and we thought it was legit. We then found out we could bring it to you for $9.99 per bottle and we almost fell out of our seats. Like, how many cases are available?!?!?! 😂
I mean, the lowest US price on any vintage of this wine is $14.99 per bottle (link above), and there are even people selling the stuff for $24.00 (here).
La Friandise from Domaine des Bouzons is 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Counoise, a very typical blend from the Côtes du Rhone and maybe, in its way, Domaine des Bouzons’ long history is typical too.
The Serguier family have run this seventeenth-century estate for six generations, though they have been connected to it for far longer, and have more than a hundred acres of vineyards. The vines are more than a half-century old and are farmed sustainably, in a process the French call lutte raisonée, or the “reasoned struggle.” It’s a fancy term for a system that is relatively unregulated yet remains deeply respected in European winemaking communities.
So today we have:
- an easy drinking, medium bodied red wine
- sustainably farmed
- lowest price ever offered in the US
- $9.99 per bottle
Chances I'm drinking this tonight = 100% 😁
Happy Thursday!

I'm not going to tell you that you should definitely be drinking this crisp, dry, Sauvignon Blanc at what is the lowest price offered in the US...
Actually, yes, that's exactly what I am going to do. At $9.99 per bottle this stuff needs to be in your weekly lineup!
What's the dealio?
A Bordeaux group making wines since 1949, Producta Vignobles, blends this crisp, tangy white from throughout the Bordeaux region, but especially from under-appreciated places like Bergerac. From Sauvignon Blanc with a trace of Semillon, this is the kind of steely, refreshing white wine that comprises a small but significant portion of what has made the Bordeaux region the centerpiece of French wine production. Charming, like the little “birdhouse” enshrined in the name, drink this well-chilled and with rapidity.
Let's start Tuesday off just right, shall we?

Sonoma Coast Chardonnay from winemaking legend Paul Hobbs for only $17.99 and 25% less than Total Wine? Yes, that is how we are doing it on this beautiful Wednesday.
Paul Hobbs is unquestionably one of the guys who gives the flying winemaker a good name. His work in Argentina has helped set the entire country on the quality course it currently enjoys. His own wines have achieved cult status since launching in 1991.
So twenty years ago, he decided to produce wines without the lofty pricing of his own label. Crossbarn wines are made at an old apple processing facility in Sebastopol, California, and are essentially made like Hobbs top-flight wines, night harvested, hand sorted, fermented in small lots, long lees aging. The main difference is the low percentage of new oak and the mix of vineyards from the Sonoma Coast.
That is basically wine speak to tell you that the plan Hobbs developed here was to deliver outstanding value - and mission accomplished.
How long we can offer this price? Until they cut us off! So get while the gettin' is good!

In a current environment where even huge Prosecco operations La Marca have had to increase their prices to nearly $14 per bottle at Total Wine (here), Raffaello Prosecco has proven to be maybe the best value Prosecco on the planet.
That may also explain why it is so hard to keep in stock!
So to celebrate its return we are running a sale at $9.99 per bottle through Sunday!
Dare I say this is the best under $10 sparkling wine I have had? I'm willing to put that out there into the universe.
Raphael dal Bo is a real guy, born and raised in Conegliano, the beating heart of Prosecco, the place that still produces the indisputably best version of the Glera grape that gives us this absolutely cheery bubbly. That certainly explains why he was the first to receive organic certification for his Organic Prosecco and why he remains solely focused upon Prosecco still today.
But what is up with Prosecco in general?
After decades as an only vaguely popular international wine, in 2009 Prosecco was redefined; its lesser regions becoming DOCs and its more specialized areas, Conegliano-Valdobbiadene and Colli Asolani, gaining DOCG status. There was plenty of good news in that: no more would lesser areas be available for bottling as Prosecco, and Italy could go to war against other countries (like Australia) labeling their white wines as Prosecco. For Australian producers (and others), Prosecco was a grape, not a place. Concomitant with these changes, Italy had re-titled the grape as Glera, thus mooting any possibility of other countries insisting that they were just naming their wines Prosecco as a varietal designation. Maybe it helped, but Prosecco blew up, internationally speaking.
This labeling scheme was good lawyering stuff, for sure. But the larger issue is that Prosecco is now rather complicated, if it is more protected and (theoretically at least), more controlled and likely to be of higher quality. Prosecco producers also began labeling their wines by sugar levels: Raffaello’s Extra Dry (made of 100% Glera) has about the same amount of sugar in it as most Champagnes, so it’s not sweet. But Prosecco of old was generally dry and the higher end DOCG stuff remains so. Confused yet? You should be. This is all wine law in full frontal evolution and it’s anybody’s guess if this makes Prosecco sexier or more popular than it already is. That said, it's still the first choice for most folks.
So if bubbly is your thing, this is a can't miss!!

There is no one item we get more requests to go on sale during the summer months than SWIMBAD.
It appears SWIMBAD is that superhero of a wine that is designed to combat crazy inflation ($8.99 is just silly value for this quality, especially in rosé) as well as high summer temps.
Summertime is all about finding that wine that can travel with you into the pool, ocean, kiddie pool, boat, or golf cart without fear of it breaking, sinking etc. Heck, with rules like no glass on the beach, I just need a bottle I can bring outdoors! This bottle also needs to be able to go in the freezer to make instant rosé slushies on command, and also contain delicious wine that can fight back heat exhaustion 😂
These videos our team did on the wine capture a lot of those sentiments (here, and here)
So ask and you shall receive!
We are putting the rosé and the white wine on sale through Sunday, and I know I'm in for a six pack of each (you know, for all types of summer emergencies)
Happy Wednesday y'all!

One of the hottest selling Cabernets of 2021 is finally back in stock!
After a short supply disruption due to some apparent glass supply issues (I guess glass this unique is tough to find!), the Mazet de la Palombiere has made its way back to our store shelves.
What was the deal with the wine?
We just said that while yes, this wine is insanely delicious for the price, this has to be one of the coolest bottles and packages I have seen on a wine in a long time.
The Cabardès region is part of the larger Languedoc-Roussillon AOC that for decades has provided cheap wine for Parisian cafes and big international companies to bring to global markets. But there is more here and the world is finally waking up to that. The soils are limestone and even gravel in spots; the right grapes hang from old, even venerable vines, and perhaps most importantly going forward, the landscape is dry and windy enough to allow for non-chemical winegrowing. Nicolas Vellas is one of the old-line guys who understands that and who has been buying selected sites to grow his Les Naturels de Nicolas Vellas wine portfolio. For four generations his family has collected great but forgotten vineyards. It’s time people started paying attention – that’s easy because at these prices, they’re easy to notice.
It is full of dark berry flavors to offset its tough guy tannins. This is BIG wine for little money and is basically the wine equivalent to Patrick Swayze in “Roadhouse.” Best movie EVER.
Let's get to it!!

Of all the sub $15 wines that have rocked my world over the last few years, Corasado is near the top of the list.
The first vintage of Corasado sold out in three months. This one lasted not much longer. So if big, bold and fabulous red wines are your thing (and apparently it is a thing for many of us :), you're gonna be loving the new vintage of this runaway hit.
What's up with the wine?
Most wineries talk about giving their wines a "sense of place", but few places can create value wines like Jumilla, with it's very unique and intense weather. The hot summers are bounded by the place’s long, cold winters and its high elevation, providing a shift of as much as a 77 degrees difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures (you read that correctly) and an almost total absence of rainfall, with its vineyards scratching out a spot on dry and stony ground. It’s tough ground for most grapes, but Monastrell (the French, who borrowed it from Spain, call it Mourvedre) can thrive here.
This 100% Monastrell from Bodegas lo Nuevo is a great example of the almost preposterously complex drinkability that Jumilla can deliver. Huge fruit, depth, and complexity all balanced together for a price that makes me smile.
In a world of overpriced puffy jackets and $10 cookies, we're thrilled we can still count on two things in this world - thrilling value wines coming out of Jumilla, and everyday low prices here at winestore.
We hope you all had a wonderful July 4th!

Save 25% Off Total Wine - Every.Single.Day!
07.05.2022
Does Big Box mean Big Savings?
Every now and again, we feel it's appropriate to tackle the issue of wine prices. Not in the educational sense like Doug Frost does on occasion, but rather straight up store vs. store (or bottle vs bottle).
Since we opened in 2006, we've been asked on numerous occasions how our prices stack up against the "big box" retailers. Most often the store in question is Total Wine. It's a fair question as most of us just assume that a bigger store means lower prices. They constantly tell you that they offer the "lowest prices". Large retailers are supposed to wield endless amounts of buying power in order to get lower prices and squash independent retailers right?? Well, not exactly.
As we have for the last decade, we put this theory to the test by purchasing a case from Total Wine and comparing it to the exact same case from winestore. We selected several wines for every day drinking (e.g. Meiomi and Sonoma Cutrer) and a few nicer wines for a special occasion (e.g. En Route Pinot Noir and Ferrari Carano "Tresor").
The Total Wine product was purchased at Total Wine in Wilmington, NC. The winestore. product was purchased at our Wilmington, NC location (but rest assured all our prices are the exact same at all our locations!). Both cases were purchased on June 29th, 2022.
The results were as follows:
Case of wine from Total Wine (with tax): $361.47 - click HERE to view receipt
Case of wine from winestore. (with tax): $271.47 - click HERE to view receipt
Savings of 25% or $90.00
We were not surprised, but we thought you might be. What could be better than being able to support local business and save money at the same time? What could you do with the extra 90 bucks? In the current environment, I would say quite a lot. Extra gas money, anyone?
All in all we want you to know we are looking out for you and your wallet - bringing you the best wine possible for the lowest prices - every single day.
As always THANK YOU for your business and we hope to see you soon!

2020 Carmita in Magnum (1.5L)

winestore. Price: $19.99 (net)

Lowest Online Price in the USA!

We've got the #1 item for your 4th of July cookout.
It is a magnum of the #1 selling value wine in the store - Carmita.
99% of the time I feel like bigger is always better (right?), and that is certainly the case in this fun package. It was one of our team members that asked if they even made these, and how much fun they would be if they did.
Lesson learned that you always have to ask - as yes, they do make them. Yes, they are fun. Yes, the price is right!
Got a lot of people coming over this weekend? You can grab a six pack of these for $120. That is the equivalent of a full case of wine for $9.99 per bottle - and the magnums simply up the cool factor by at least a multiple of ten 😁
The fact that this also happens to be the best selling value red wine in the store just makes it that much more exciting!
Never had Carmita?
Centuries ago the DO of Almansa produced high quality wines, albeit at that time they were sweet ones. The locals used Alicante Bouschet, but today they call it Garnacha Tintorera, and for the most part all the producers have nixed the sweet part of the equation. In the case of Carmita, they mix the Garnacha with 30% Monastrell to make this wickedly powerful red wine.
It's easy drinking, big, rich and all around delicious.
Oh, did we mention that the winemaking team behind this gem are involved in some of the most celebrated wine projects in Spain? So the street cred, in addition to everything else, is off the charts.
You guys know what to do!
Let's do this!

During our biggest annual sale, we usually take a moment to highlight a few of our favorite offerings....and Les Peyrautins is at the top of my list.
How does a wine enter into our top 20 best selling wines just 12 months after release and when we only sent a newsletter out about it one time? It happens when high quality and extreme value mash up to create an absolutely silly deal.
What's makes Les Peyrautins so good?
You have been told that Pinot Noir is the most finicky of grapes; indeed, it’s supposed to be the “heartbreak grape.” The statement is not false but it’s also not completely true. To make great Pinot Noir is bloody difficult and to do it consistently is virtually impossible, unless you’re in some famous (and very expensive) place. But that’s true of most grapes. It’s true that Pinot Noir grown in the wrong place is pretty dreadful, maybe more dreadful than most other grapes. But the middle ground has plenty of wealth to it – you need a friendly place for grape growing but not too friendly. With France’s Pays d’Oc, there are places where it’s easy to ripen grapes and areas that offer just enough challenge to coax Pinot Noir into an outrageous value - creating a fresh, fruity and delicious wine....and that's what we have here.
Les Peyrautins checks a lot of boxes for me. On the quality to price scale the wine is off the charts. The packaging is nice (when I serve it nobody would ever guess this bad boy was $9.99! 😁) It's just one of those wines where I feel confident when I open the bottle I am going to really enjoy the overall experience...and that always keeps me coming back!
So if you're like me, and in your weekly wine rotation you are looking for a) value but also b) delicious wine - this wine is your huckleberry!
Happy Wednesday everyone!

Call it T. Solomon 2.0.
At this point in my career I should know that you never say never, and this was one of those times. We told you back in February that this was a one time deal. No repeats.
We were approached 4 weeks ago by the broker that brought us this 100% single vineyard Campbell Ranch juice from some of the powerhouses who also founded Kosta Browne and he said that a restaurant group in LA backed out of their commitment for 4 pallets of the stuff (224 cases). We thought the juice was long gone, but I guess their loss is our gain.
This wine was simply too good to pass up (as many of you know), but we told them to take all 224 cases and have them picked up within the month (and also to save some face that they told us what we bought was all that was available) the price would have to be lower. After a significant amount of hemming and hawing, we had a deal.
The cornerstone of our business model is when we get a better deal, you get a better deal. We already stated that this may be the best sub $40 Pinot Noir you were ever going to try.
At $24.99 as part of our huge July 4th sale? I’m not even sure what to say...
We can say with near certainty that, at a minimum, you will never again see 100% Campbell Ranch juice for $24.99 again in our lifetimes…but never say never 😁
Original e-mail about the wine is below.
I know what I am drinking tonight!

We have something special for you today!
On August 23rd of last year, a winemaker we have worked with in CA for many years sent us the sample in the pictures below. He told us it was 100% Pinot Noir, but other than that we had no idea what these notations on the bottle meant.
So we tasted the wine. It was good. Like really, really, really, good. Like I actually ended up drinking the entire sample bottle good (not by myself of course, but hey...we don't judge here 😂).
The winemaker went into this explanation of how he could not provide us with the source of the juice, he didn’t want to violate his NDA, etc. etc. etc. and then told us the price.
At this point in the situation I told the guy point blank that we wanted every last drop of the wine, but we would not move forward unless he gave us the full details. He caved...but we can only tell you part of the story.
So it turns out that cryptic message on the bottle "2020-ALD-PNCB” stood for "2020 ******** Pinot Noir Campbell Ranch”…no wonder it was so good.
I can't tell you what the ALD is (because I promised not to), but you can potentially do some google searching and figure it out. What I can tell you is that the people behind "ALD" are some of the most successful Pinot Noir entrepreneurs in the United States. The winemaker at ALD has a Wine Spectator Wine of the Year under his belt (which may or may have not been the 2011 Wine of the Year) and is a master of Pinot Noir.
So we get this sample and find out the winery wants to sell off a chunk of their 2020 Campbell Ranch juice. The release price on this single vineyard wine is $72.00 per bottle (if you can find it). I signed up for the winery mailing list and could not even buy it.
I have tasted the final version twice now, and I am willing to put my professional reputation on the line here and tell you that this may be the best sub $40 Pinot Noir you are ever going to try. I already went back and inquired about the possibility of getting more juice and we have not even sold one bottle.
There is no more. So now I can also tell you that this is it. This is a one time, one off deal. No repeats.
This is it!
To celebrate the occasion of getting access to this juice we brought back the T. Solomon Wellborn label that was around over a decade ago. This label, originally from Tantara and produced for exclusive restaurants in Los Angeles (we were the only retailer in the US to get any), made its way onto some of the worlds best value lists with virtually no distribution. It was like a unicorn wine. T Solomon was developed as a program to bottle their excess single vineyard juice - almost the exact same scenario we have here.
I’m buying a bunch for myself. 2 cases. I like it that much…and I know I’m going to go through the first case relatively quickly sharing bottles with people and going “you won’t believe this… 😁”
I know what I'm drinking tonight! TGIF!

July 4th SALE runs through mightnight, July 4th, 2022

The #2 selling white wine in the store for 2022, behind Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay, is Bleu Blanc Thau.
As part of our July 4th Sale for only $7.99 - it is BY FAR the #1 white wine value in the store.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - I need more value like this in my life. You know, like the kind where the quality of the product far exceeds the price. Too often lately I think we're being presented with sub optimal options at insane prices. Not today though... (and honestly hopefully not ever here at winestore.!)
What's up with the wine?
We found the Vivarés brothers from Cotes de Thau – you’ve probably not heard of it but it’s the hilly coastal part of Languedoc in Mediterranean France. They live in Pézenas, which you should visit someday because it’s the charming birthplace of France’s greatest playwright, Molière. Robert Vivarés has a B&B with a fine restaurant and Paul travels the world for his business tasting a lot of wines. They needed a house wine that reflected the place where they grew up. So they blended Picpoul, Terret and Colombard from the hills around them and called it Bleu Blanc and its straight up a silly value.
Happy Thursday everyone! When does the weekend start?

Highland Falls IS BACK!
Today may set some sales records, as the pent up demand for this product appears to be completely off the charts (one store alone has 43 cases of product on back order!!!). Oh, and to celebrate we have it on sale for $9.99 as part of our July 4th sale...just because we can't help ourselves 😂
What's up with the wine?
"Mountain-grown, it’s the richest kind,” as coffee commercials used to say, but it’s also true of Cabernet. You rarely, if ever, can find mountain fruit in $12 wines. Like, I can't even think of one off the top of my head.
Foley Family's winemaking pedigree being involved doesn’t hurt either: the guys who bring you Merus, Chalone and Chalk Hill Wines are behind the powerhouse Highland Falls lineup too.
It's kinda like if the people behind Dom Perignon launched a $12 sparkler - or the winemaking team behind Rombauer rolled out a $12 Cali Chardonnay.....these are the best of the best in the Cabernet world, bringing you world class value.
This review from Vivino sums up my thoughts on the wine very succinctly!
Let's get to it! Happy Wednesday!

This 100% organic perennial favorite here at winestore. has finally come back in stock, and we could not be more excited. (pro tip - place this red wine in the fridge for about 15 minutes before drinking it!)
But what is up with the photo, right?
My favorite wine magazine , Decanter, recently featured Le Paria in their "Top Wines of the Year", and we thought you should know about it.
I'm not really big into lists and such, but they put Le Paria in some pretty good company.
As you can see in the photo above, they put Le Paria right in the mix between wines that cost $132, $69, and $89 (and that's just on their page. It was their best red value selection in their top 30 reds.
It is also the least expensive wine on their entire list!
We said the first time we told you about this wine, "we pride ourselves on trying to find extreme values here at winestore., but this one is potentially in a league all its own"...and maybe it was just kinda nice to see that others seem to agree :)
Le Paria hails from the Cabardés region inside Languedoc, and a little town called Ventenac, in the rolling foothills of the Pyrenees. For France, this is warm climate viticulture though it is not so different from the southern Rhone Valley climatically speaking. In general, the Languedoc doesn't cool off in the same manner as the Rhone but Grenache is happily at home in such a sunny place. And the family is invested not only in their historical sites and vines on the side of Montagne Noire but also in sustainable viticulture (they’re members of Terra Vitis - link HERE). The vineyard is free of chemical inputs and the wine has no added sulfites; it’s aged only in traditional concrete tanks.
I know what I'm drinking tonight!
Let's do this!

The summer temps are supposed to top out at over 100 degrees across most of North Carolina today, and stay that high through the rest of the week.
There is only one supehero wine that is designed to withstand this type of excessive heat...and that is SWIMBAD.
I need a bottle that can travel with me into the pool, ocean, kiddie pool, possibly into the cold shower without fear of it breaking, sinking etc. Heck, with rules like no glass on the beach, I just need a bottle I can bring outdoors! This bottle also needs to be able to go in the freezer to make instant rosé slushies on command, and also contain delicious wine that can fight back heat exhaustion 😂
SWIMBAD is that wine. It made me laugh and go back and look at these two videos we did on the wine (here, and here)
So we are putting the rosé and the white wine on sale through Friday, and in a world where prices seem to be going up in non stop fashion - we're bringing this to you at the ever so pocketbook friendly price of $8.99 per bottle.
I'm blowing up the inflatable pool at 5pm, throwing in some ice, some wine, and jumping in. You guys are more than welcome to join!
Happy Tuesday y'all!

June of 2006 we opened our doors for the first time, and it feels like it was just yesterday...or at least feels like it was on Monday.
Every single day we are still focused on bringing you the best possible wines at the lowest possible prices - so it only seems appropriate that we take two of our best selling wines of 2022 (Snowvale is #1 selling wine of the last 16 years!) and put them on sale to celebrate. 🥂
They will also be on the machines to taste for just $0.01 through Sunday!
The most important thing we want to say though, is thank you.
I'm not sure you can say "thank you" enough, and while we try to say it every time we see you - we just want to say it again. Each and every one of you have given us the pleasure of serving the wine (and sometimes beer!) needs for you and your family, and we are truly humbled by the opportunity.
You've allowed us to be there for celebrations, date nights, funerals, graduations, weddings, pool parties, beach trips and anything and everything in between. Thank you.
We have some of the lowest employee turnover rates in retail, and a main part of the reason is the customers we get to interface with on a daily basis are just wonderful people. Thank you.
We hope you all will stick with us for the next 16 years (and even tell your friends about us)...and while we have no idea what the next 16 years will look like, we are excited for the ride.
The one thing we will guarantee you is this - we will work our absolute best, every single day, to try and provide you the best service, prices, and wines in the wine retail business. Oh, and any time we slip up we will always make it right 😁
So THANK YOU, to the best customers in the world. We look forward to serving you soon.
