Balcon sur la Mer Rose
The first time I ever saw this bottle and tried the wine, I kinda felt like I was transported onto a luxurious vacation. Someplace like Saint Barths. But I'm not paying and someone is just pouring me lovely rosé in infinite quantities as my feet rest in the sand. Balcon delivers everything you want in a great rosé in spades. This unctuous pink wine is dry, stony, fruity, lengthy. Comprised of Grenache, Grenache Gris and Mourvedre.

Belcoop Red
The massive Pays d’Oc covers the greater part of Mediterranean France. After the railroad was built, linking the south to Paris, wines of the Languedoc filled the carafes of Parisian bistros, and they still do today. But the last century has seen vast improvements to the wines that once were built only for value. The rest is traditionally made; though used and funky barrels are no longer the norm in the Languedoc, where this tasty wine is crafted.

Belcoop White
Grenache Blanc is a work in progress, but only because the consumer is still discovering it. With enough sunshine, Grenache Blanc can develop weight and power. The wine is fermented like Chardonnay in some ways, though the stainless steel variety; its lees are stirred in the tank, creating greater richness and texture, and Grenache Blanc is very happy that way. You will be too.

Belle Glos Balade
Pinot from your friends at Caymus Vineyards. This is what we like to call Pinot for Cab drinkers. Large and in charge, this Pinot packs more punch than many Pinot's that are twice as expensive. Don't worry about the red wax...these people know what they are doing.

Belleplane Chardonnay
In France, the grape is sometimes secondary - it’s the place that counts. The French label police have loosened up and they’re okay with Chardonnay being on this label. It matters if you’re close to the coast, or up in the mountains, and with a grape like Chardonnay, cooler, higher elevation sites are best. A third of the wine is barrel-fermented - the rest is in stainless steel, with enough lees-stirring to fatten up the wine and round it out.

Belleplane Red
When it comes to red grapes, there are many in the Languedoc-Roussillon, an area that encompasses almost the entirety of Mediterranean France. But there are a few pockets of an unusual grape called Alicante Bouschet, one of only a handful of grapes that actually has colored juice (as opposed to the color coming from the skins). With 70% Alicante and 30% Syrah, and a half year or so in barrel, this wine is powerful, dense and chewy.

Blackbird Arise
While not everyone shows as much enthusiasm as we do (and they’re just plain wrong), we strongly believe that Blackbird Vineyards makes utterly delicious wines. This is the so-called entry point red but it’s far more serious and successful than many others’ top wine: 55% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. Contains plenty of vivid life for your cellaring or just a delightfully marbled chunk of meat. Plummy and layered, let this be your introduction to Blackbird wines for years to come.

Bonterra McNab Cabernet
Bonterra is the OG of organic vineyard people; they have been pushing organic viticulture since before most other vintners were born. They’ve gotten good at growing grapes that way because they’re very likely the largest producer of organic grapes in the US, though don’t quote us on that. McNab Ranch is one of the original Biodynamic vineyards planted in the United States, so it's is a foundational example of what Bonterra has been all about.
Type, Body & Flavor
Bonterra The Roost Chardonnay
Bonterra is as close to an OG among the wineries devoted to sustainability and true regenerative viticulture as any among American wineries. This single vineyard wine comes from a spot nestled between the shore of the upper Russian River and a blue heron nesting site and preserve; hence the name of Blue Heron Ranch. It’s Biodynamically farmed, and shows the sort of tangy cut that’s typical of Mendocino Chardonnay.
Type, Body & Flavor
Bouzons Cotes du Rhone
80% Grenache and 20% Syrah, a very typical blend from the Rhone and, in its way, Domaine des Bouzons’ long history is typical too. The vines are more than a half-century old and are farmed sustainably, in a process the French call lutte raisonée, or the “reasoned struggle.” It’s a fancy term for a system that is deeply respected in European winemaking communities. It’s how things are with wine; nothing is certain or simple; that too is typical.
