Pikorua Sauvignon Blanc

Marlborough continues to be a great source of tangy Sauvignon Blanc, but increasingly it has more complexity than the usual that the country has produced.
Type, Body & Flavor
Prejuges Chardonnay

Cabardès has not always been a favored site but its intense limestone soils are beginning to consistently offer Burgundy-like nerve. It’s tasty wine, but maybe the best part of the story is that Cabardès is named for the 13th Century Lords of Cabaret – seriously. Picture Joel Grey or Alan Cumming astride white stallions, swords a-glinter in the sunlight, horses prancing. Okay, you just can’t un-see that image, can you? Drink this incredibly tasty number and try to forget we said this.

Raffaello Moscato

Don’t hate Moscato Spumante because it’s dolce (“sweet” in Italian and everything sounds better in Italian). Just picture yourself on a Vespa, driving through Roma, winking at everyone and saying “dolce!” like you’re in a Fellini movie. La Dolce Vita!
Type, Body & Flavor
Snowvale Cabernet

It's no surprise that I love Snowvale Cabernet. It's classic California; ripe fruit, full-bodied, hints of spice, firm tannins, and an intense yet balanced finish. The surprise is that it's only $13. This is one to buy by the case. Just don't tell your friends how much you paid.
Type, Body & Flavor
Sun Summer Pink

Truth be told, Grenache makes a reasonably tasty rosé but it’s never complete without some Cinsault. Why? Cinsault is floral, with red cherries and plums as the through line between the two grapes. Syrah brings the strawberries and raspberries, but Cinsault gives to the blend a cranberry finish.

Vellas Reserve COQ

Over four generations of winemaking, the Vellas family have slowly assembled a strong group of properties in Languedoc and Roussillon (Mediterranean France). In beautiful sites like Mas du Pont (near Montpellier) they have created not only a vast set of vineyards but also farmlands, bull breeding, equestrian centers, olive groves and more. They pull from IGPs and AOPs (Euro-language for delimited and defined wine areas) such as Costiere de Nimes, Coteau Varois, Oc, Saint-Guilhem, Grès, Saint Drézery, Muscat de Lunel, Languedoc, Pic St. Loup and Faugères. With Cabernet spread out across these sunny and Mediterranean climes, ripeness and aromatics are both in strong supply.
Type, Body & Flavor
Waccamaw Proprietary Red

Put together a bunch of passionate kids (some with backgrounds selling wines for legends such as Eric Solomon and Martine Saunier) deeply immersed in the California biz and you can find some pretty tasty wines. That's what they did and that's what we have here.
Type, Body & Flavor
Wente Riva Ranch Chardonnay

Wente's way with Chardonnay has always gotten to me. There's something about their style of fat and rich fruit, combined with clean and fresh tartness. Whether in a blind setting or when I know what I'm drinking, I keep finding myself preferring Wente over other, bigger names.
Type, Body & Flavor
White and Sea

It’s surprising that grapes like Sauvignon Blanc aren’t more widely planted in southern France, as they can be harvested fairly early to retain bright and citrusy acidity without really losing character or even complexity. Maybe wines like this will encourage more winemakers to try working with crisp and aromatic white grapes in Languedoc-Roussillon.

Willowlake Pinot Noir

Finally! A wine that rivals Belle Glos at a much friendlier price point. Pinot lovers unite!
