Aiaiai Priorat
100%
Match

This is a tiny project started by Silvia Puig in her garage in one of the villages of Priorat, the site of Spain’s most intense wines. She was consulting for some of the more important wineries, like Clos Figueras, and wanted to make wine in “limited quantities so that the artisan element is valued.” En Números Vermells remains a handcrafted producer, with the Aiaiai wine being blended from Garnacha, Cariñena and Syrah.

The “Austin” wine is a multiple vintage blend of vineyards in the region; think of it as the ultimate winemaker’s craft for his own table.

The massive Pays d’Oc covers the greater part of Mediterranean France. After the railroad was built, linking the south to Paris, wines of the Languedoc filled the carafes of Parisian bistros, and they still do today. But the last century has seen vast improvements to the wines that once were built only for value. The rest is traditionally made; though used and funky barrels are no longer the norm in the Languedoc, where this tasty wine is crafted.

Alexander Valley is distinct in its pure friendliness; the wines are genuinely enjoyable from day one, expansive of fruit and reliably supple throughout their lives. Once you taste this, you'll understand how much of a bargain it actually is.

This 100% Cabernet is full of dark berry flavors to offset its tough guy tannins. This is BIG wine for little money. It’s basically the wine equivalent to Patrick Swayze in “Roadhouse.” Best movie EVER.

Comprised of Grenache and Syrah, these are wines that represent the ever improving fortunes of the southern Rhone Valley, and with every year, they creep closer and closer to the character and style of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, only at much more affordable prices.

Anthologie Vacqueyras an expression of Grenache and Syrah from one of the first villages within the Cotes du Rhone Villages to be labeled on its own (Gigondas was the first). Like other areas of the eastern side of the southern Rhone, Mount Ventoux looms large above it and allows cooler air to drain towards the valley (and Vacqueyras) below. But Vacqueyras is closer in resemblance to the rich decadence of Gigondas.

Cape Charles Cabernet

Easily our most popular product the last 3 years has been Cape Charles Cabernet. A label developed with Baron Ziegler (he’s a big deal) to take advantage of the high end bulk wine market, the results have been unreal. The label itself was lent to the project by artist Peter Curling (he’s also a big deal) We started with Kamen Moon Mountain juice which sold out in just a few weeks. We then doubled down with 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Leonetti in Washington State. After the Leonetti success we told Baron the next one had to be huge…and he delivered. This 100% Cassata Vineyard Cabernet is the best wine he’s released yet, and I’m not sure it’s even close. As for prices - you’ll find Cassata Vineyard Cabernet anywhere from $53 to $105 per bottle. As far as I can tell, NEVER has this vineyard ever had wine in the 21st century that has been priced under $25.00.

What really needs to be said...??? Chuck Wagner has been producing delicious Cabernet at Caymus for over 30 years (he's got a pretty solid track record)...all things considered, I'd say this is a buy.

The vines on this Saint-Emilion property produce less fruit but more concentrated flavors; that is the character of older vines. The very typical Saint-Émilion blend of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon sees a bit more new oak than is typical at this price point; the Bertrand family, long-time owners, clearly see this wine as having the backbone for it. Half new and half one-year-old barrels generate more spice and weight
