If your family is anything like ours, it goes like this.

1) You buy wine for Thanksgiving the week before Thanksgiving
2) Family starts rolling into town
3) You run out of wine before Thanksgiving even gets here...

That is where wines like Absolu Chardonnay come in. Absolutely delicious, and at a price point where Uncle Jake can open up the extra bottle and nobody is really going to care 😂

Absolu kind of ended up here by mistake.

When the winery behind our best selling white wine, Bleu Blanc Thau, just casually dropped to us that they make Chardonnay and are like "Oh yeah we also make this do we want to try it?"

Ummm, yeah, we do.

As it turns out, Bleu Blanc Thau was not a fluke, and these people really know what they are doing.

Many of our team members here have opined that this may be their new favorite wine, and it makes sense. The stuff is silly good.

Absolu is Chardonnay grown on eroded limestone and clay in one of the newer classified spots along the Mediterranean Sea. Night harvesting helps retain acidity and that’s important in a place that might as well be a beach in Capri were it not for the surrounding vines and the winds coming down off the mountains to the north and west. They say the winds are from the Atlantic, but that seems illogical since those mountains are in the way but, regardless, the nighttime winds are indeed very cool and refreshing. This is fermented partly in stainless steel and partly in barrel, but all of the wine spends a year in French oak.

All of those things combine together to make an epic, rich and round Chardonnay at a price point these guys dominate.

Absolu checks a lot of boxes for me. On the quality to price scale the wine is off the charts. The packaging is nice (when I serve it nobody would ever guess this wine was only $12.99 😁) It's just one of those wines where I feel confident when I open the bottle I am going to really enjoy the overall experience...and that always keeps me coming back!
