You guys had to know that we were going to kick this week off with a bang, right?!?!

What's the deal?

The seemingly endless process of creating new AVAs goes on apace. Witness the Santa Margarita Ranch AVA, one of the series of newish AVAs that has parcellated the better known area of Paso Robles on California’s Central Coast. While Paso Robles is hot and sunny, Santa Margarita Ranch AVA has one of the cooler, hence longer, growing seasons in the region.

Ancient Peaks represents three cattle ranching families who got into the wine growing business a few decades ago and have proven adept at rich but not too rich Cabernet, powerful but not too punchy reds and wines worthy of your summer cookout.

All that said, it wasn't good enough that we loved the wine, and thought you would too. We needed the price to be right.

Is the wine worth $20? Absolutely. Is it even better at $14.99? You know it!
