Sooooo....we tasted this wine back in February and LOVED it. Just an absolute home run.

Only issue was the price. Most places in Europe are currently selling the 2019 vintage of this wine for between 15.50 (like here) and 18 Euros - or somewhere between $16.89 and $19.62 USD.

The winery wanted us to retail it for $18 USD.

So the wine was really good. Was it $18 good? Probably. Kinda sorta. But if it were $14.99 per bottle the price and the quality would both be off the charts.

So we told them if we could get this wine to $14.99 it was a go. They said no at first, and moved on.

Like any good deal though, it took them a few months but they finally came around! Go time!!!

So why do we like it so much?

The Bayle and Carreau families bought this 17th century manor house, named for Louis d’Eyquem, nephew of Michel de Montaigne, writer and philosopher and often called the inventor of the essay. With clay-limestone soil and a view of the spot where the Dordogne and the Garonne rivers meet, this is planted to 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Malbec.

Think complex flavors, big fruit, but soft and silky tannins that make for an easy - yet exciting drink.

We will have it on the tasting machine at all 8 stores - soon 9! - all week long just in case you don't trust us. 

One thing is for sure though - I know what I'm drinking tonight!!
