The #1 selling wine in the store since its return on August 26th has been Cape Charles Cabernet. It was our wine of the year last year, and honestly it could have been it again in 2022. 

Sometimes a winery just catches lightning in a bottle, and Baron Ziegler and Rob Fischer did just that...

We opined at the end of August that "This will also be, without question, the fastest selling $24.99 wine in the 16+ years we have been in business." - and we are here to report that you guys have set records over the last year that I'm not sure will ever be broken.

Here is what we originally told you about the wine.

I’ll be honest…I’m not exactly sure where to start.
 
Back in January when we gave you last call on the 2019 Cape Charles, I said "We are desperately working with Baron Ziegler (who brought us the wine) and the winery to see if there potentially could be another run - but talks have stalled out for now, and even if we can get a deal done the soonest it could be here is MAY.”
 
As it turns out, we were able to work a deal back in January - but I was wrong about the May part (supply chain issues are real!). Since that deal was struck, the winery we sourced this fruit from received a near perfect score from a one of the worlds top wine critics.

Do they now wish they had this juice back? I’m guessing 1000% yes. Are we insane to offer it to you today for only $24.99 per bottle given what it could potentially fetch? 1000% yes.
 
I cannot tell you in good conscience that this is the best deal we will ever offer, as I’d like to believe that we will continue to source outstanding juice like this as our contacts get better and better. I can tell you this is the best deal we have ever offered to date. This will also be, without question, the fastest selling $24.99 wine in the 16+ years we have been in business.

Cape Charles Cabernet from the Moon Mountain District will go down as one of the best value wines we ever offered. I wish I had bought more, as I’ve already consumed everything I bought...
 
So when Baron Ziegler, the wine wizard that brought us that deal, came to me and said “I think I found Cape Charles version 2.0”, we said no way. I e-mailed him and said in no uncertain terms that if we were going to do Cape Charles again, it needed to be absolutely lights out. It had to be as special as the first time around.

He turned around and texted me the below photo:



What are we looking at here?

I can't show you the name on the bottle for all sorts of wine related legal reasons. The winery has been making wine since 1977. They’ve notched multiple 100 point scores. Their track record with the critics, from 2015-2018 shown in the image below, almost makes it seem like they are cheating. Some have opined that their 1978 Cabernet Sauvignon was one of the most important wines ever made in America.


 
This particular lot, is the exact same wine the winery will be selling for $139.99

Your price is $24.99. That is correct. This is not a typo. $24.99.

I’m really not sure how things like this exist (are we really living in a simulation?), but I’m here for it and happy to buy up as much as I can.
