The deal train continues to roll into December, and this is one of my favorites!

Long time Central Coast winemaker Gregory Ahn knows where the good stuff is, and he has sourced grapes from three ranches across coastal Central California, from Santa Barbara to Arroyo Seco to Monterey, from Grenache (61%), Syrah (36%) and Mourvedre (3%). Each of those valleys or valley-defined areas, share something in common, whether we’re thinking about Santa Barbara or Monterey: the valleys run east and west, instead of north and south (think Napa; think Sonoma, think Bordeaux; think many wine valleys). That makes it more Pacific influenced, colder, certainly, more dramatically colder in the afternoons. That lengthens the growing season and improves intensity and balance. Or so some of us believe.

This particular bottling was actually founded by the iconic Joseph Phelp's winery (hence the name) and was sold to it's current ownership group along with the vineyards back in 2008 (remember what was going on then :)

As far as we can tell the quality level has not skipped a beat, as this 2018 is an absolute show stopper.

If you've got someone in your gift universe who loves to google the bottle of wine you bought them to see how nice it is - this is the one for them! They will think you paid $50 and the quality is sure to impress. Client gifts, anyone? 😁
