Copain Tous Ensemble Chardonnay
Copain was once the doyenne of the “balanced” wine set. That’s to say, it was not uber-rich or possibly even sweet like so many Chardonnays. Founder Wells Guthrie was a hero to many who felt that California Chardonnay was being given a bad name by all these butter bombs. Wells’ wines, on the other hand, had some steel in their backbones and were better for it. Wells got bought out but the Chardonnays have stayed true to the founder’s vision.
