Not so long ago, California’s Central Coast was simply the Central Coast and that was enough. Except it wasn't. A three hundred mile coast has far more permutations than is implied by the simplistic “central” part of that coast. And so it does, but many of its smaller valleys run east and west, unlike the North Coast, allowing ocean breezes access to the vineyards. The Arroyo Grande Valley is one such. Chardonnay seems perfectly adapted to the cold evenings here.
